Five S is based on the following principles:
- Remove everything that inhibits the smooth running of production processes and smooth material flows from the workplace
- The workplace must be maintained in a well-arranged and clean manner by effectively defined cleaning
- Take the best feasible alternative to an action or state chosen by experts as a standard
- Every system that is not maintained by adequate tools, gradually erodes and changes into chaos
The result of implementing Five S:
A clean, well-arranged, well laid out and organized workplace and active employees, who themselves purposefully improve the production system
